In a 5-4 ruling on June 30, 2014, the US Supreme Court upheld religious freedom.
The Hobby Lobby decision, although narrow in scope, is a welcome ruling providing protection under Obamacare for those who respect the sanctity of life. Although the media reported that this was about contraception, that was not the issue. Instead, Hobby Lobby objected to paying for medical coverage for abortifacients that cause miscarriage and destroy human life after conception.
Religious freedom is at the heart of the American story. The First Amendment adopted by the founders of this nation guaranteed our religious liberties against the encroachment of government. CTV President, James Muffett said, “We are encouraged by this “rule of law” ruling and continue to pray that our courts will uphold the self-evident principles in the Constitution.”
