After many years of exemplary service to the people of Michigan on the State Supreme Court, Justice Robert Young announced that he will be retiring this month to return to private practice. Justice Young has remained true to the highest standard of judicial philosophy, consistently following the law and resisting the urge to legislate from the bench. We are sad to see him leave the Court and express our deepest appreciation for his years of service to the people of Michigan!
Governor Snyder will appoint Justice Young’s replacement to the court, who will fill the remainder of the term (through 2018). We have been pleased with many of the Governor’s appointments to courts across the state and hope that he will continue to choose strong rule-of-law justices for Michigan’s highest court.
